Dear Reader, A you a fan of tension? Weird question, but regardless of whether you enjoy it or not, let's just say it happens. You might be facilitating a group, holding a meeting, working with a client, or even sitting at a dinner table, and here it is. Perhaps it’s a particularly difficult group dynamic. A relationship that keeps circling the same issue. Or an inner reaction that surprises you with its intensity. The funny thing is, often we treat or think about these things as separate problems. But Process Work starts from a different idea: Inner struggles, relationship dynamics, and group conflicts are deeply connected, and they affect each other. In other words, what’s happening inside someone, what’s happening between people, and what’s happening in the field are not separate stories. They’re the same story, told at different levels. Once you see that, a lot of things start to make more sense. Why a group conflict suddenly activates strong personal reactions. When relational patterns repeat no matter how “skilled” the facilitator is. When technical interventions fall flat when the emotional field isn’t met. And guess what? Growth in one area can unlock movement in all the others. This is one of the many strengths of Process Work - its breadth of application. It is also exactly why we’ve created these three upcoming trainings that speak to different parts of the same puzzle. Well – actually we’ve created a whole bunch throughout the year that speak to different parts of that puzzle – we are a Process Work school after all! Trauma-Informed Facilitation – Online Wednesday 20 & 27 February Because inner struggles don’t stay inside. Trauma doesn’t politely wait its turn. It shows up in groups, in leadership moments, in conflict, in withdrawal, in intensity, in silence. While it’s difficult to estimate exact figures, a large majority of the population have experienced a significant trauma of one kind or another in the course of their lives, and often more than one. Trauma-Informed Facilitation supports you to develop the skills, knowledge, and frameworks needed to create trauma-informed group spaces, and build your confidence to respond well when people get triggered. The workshop is specifically for people who work with groups, in either a paid or volunteer capacity, and are committed to working ethically. Yearning for a Better World – Byron Bay – 28 Feb – 1 March Group conflicts are often about unspoken hopes. So many relational and group struggles aren’t just about disagreement, they’re about longing. Longing to belong. Longing to be heard. Longing for fairness, dignity, change, relief. Yearning for a Better World is a two-day immersive workshop where we’ll explore tools for personal and community transformation rooted in Earth-based Process Work practices. Together, we’ll create space for what truly matters to emerge from within ourselves, our relationships, and the amazing planet we belong to. Practice Lab: Honing Process Structure – Online Beginning 7 March Intuition works better when it’s supported by clarity. When things get complex, many facilitators rely on instinct alone and feel overwhelmed or unsure why an intervention worked (or didn’t). Honing Process Structure is about sharpening your technical and diagnostic skills: learning to see patterns, track process, and understand what’s actually happening beneath the surface. This training will help you slow things down internally, orient yourself, and choose interventions with more precision and confidence. One story, three doorways You can enter this work through trauma awareness. Through relational and group skills. Or through technical clarity and structure. But they all lead to the same place: greater fluency in working with what’s happening, inside people, between people, and in the wider field. Next up on the horizon – Stopping the World – Melbourne – 1 & 2 May So whichever piece of the puzzle you are focusing on, we've got your back with thoughtful, in-depth trainings to support you in growing your capacity to listen and respond across all of them. Dear Reader, This month’s newsletter is inspired by poetry. The poet’stask is simple. He looks for quiet, and speaks to whathe finds there.David Whyte, Excerpt from The Poet So we invite you to become a poet for a moment. What do you hear in the quiet? In your body? In the world? In your relationships? In your dreams? What do you find there? Make a few notes. We begin by slowing down, seeking quiet so we can hear more clearly. We can consider other types of listening too – listening to tiny...
Dear Reader, There is so much noise everywhere it’s easy to become overwhelmed. Bam. Bam. Bam. Our bodies feel the pressure and pull of competing agendas and meanwhile our time can easily be usurped by devices designed to keep us there. Never before have we had so much access to what’s going on in other places, knowledge and answers, and also so much fluff! In this cacophony, some of us want to curl up under a doona and find quiet, some want to rage against injustice, some want to understand...
Dear Reader, A few honest questions today. Are you on the edge of signing up for something that could change your practice and your life? Are you a lifelong learner who wants to go deep, not just wide? Do you hold a professional qualification and want to supercharge it, with tools and self-knowledge that most training doesn't offer? Are you ready to make a significant shift in how you understand yourself and the people you work with? If any of those landed, the Two-Year Process Work Study...
