"we get so gripped by the crisis, we put our softer parts to one side"

Dear Reader

We're sooooooooooo lucky here at ANZPOP!

We're starting to see the videos of our conference presenters talking about their sessions, the thinking and feeling processes informing the sessions, and WOW, WOW, WOW!

First up, Charlie Wood's session: Navigating the Climate Crisis as a Spiritual Journey.

If you haven't read Charlie's bio yet, long story short, they are a bit of a big deal in the climate movement, a very deep thinker and feeler, and a passionate Process Work learner.

We've just uploaded four videos of Charlie talking about what to expect in their session, their journey to Process Work, burnout in the climate movement, and what they mean by a spiritual response to climate change. Check them out here:

A few quotable quotes we loved:

PW is about teaching and learning awareness, noticing signals, following nature. It’s so missing from social change spaces because we’re so caught up in our own adrenalised panic.
We get so gripped by the crisis, we put our softer parts to one side. But to my mind, these are the parts that are most needed to transform the devastation of what’s happening.
PW was an ah-ha moment – drawing on all these beautiful lineages that I’ve gotten so much out of…weaving them together into a framework that wasn’t trying to dichotomise change – you either do individual work or you do systemic work – it showed how they are all interconnected.
When you’re a deeply feeling person, when you feel with and about the earth and people’s suffering, it’s a real honour because it connects you and allows you to have experiences that contribute to more groundedness in your work.
But it can also be very overwhelming. Grappling with boundaries and porosity – how much to let in, when to close the door, when is it too much. We cannot possibly feel it all, it would overwhelm the psyche.

Stay tuned, next week, we'll be sharing videos from Bec Lang, talking about her session on Fruit fly, feral goats and forestry: finding the path of heart!

warmly

Dear Reader, This month's newsletter focuses on 'the calling': how we support ourselves to listen to, focus on, and unfold the signals arising within and around us. But let’s start with a word on why this can be hard. Most of us have stayed with a familiar path at some point, even while quieter signals were suggesting another. In many ways it's deeply human. The known track feels safe, and our communities and larger systems often settle into well-worn tracks too. Sometimes those tracks...

Dear Reader, Spring is nature's own celebration of diversity, a riot of new colours, shapes and forms all emerging together, each different, each essential to the whole. And so too with our upcoming programs that we are delivering in spring and summer! This newsletter is focused on skills to support diversity because diversity lies at the heart of Process Work. It begins with the concept of Deep Democracy, the listening and valuing of all parts, knowing that different energies all have their...

Dear Reader, This month’s newsletter is inspired by poetry. The poet’stask is simple. He looks for quiet, and speaks to whathe finds there.David Whyte, Excerpt from The Poet So we invite you to become a poet for a moment. What do you hear in the quiet? In your body? In the world? In your relationships? In your dreams? What do you find there? Make a few notes. We begin by slowing down, seeking quiet so we can hear more clearly. We can consider other types of listening too – listening to tiny...
