"Without needing to work at it, you will be holding space differently"

Dear Reader

This is our last set of videos from the presenters at this year's Process Work Community Conference and goodness, they're incredible!

Meredith Elton is a movement facilitator of many kinds, with a deep love for the natural world and collective expression - plus several decades of Process Work learning. As she cooks up her conference session, Moving the Field - Embodied Systems Transformation, Meredith shares, very personally, what movement can tell us about ourselves and our relationship with nature, what drew her to present at the conference, and a bit about what to expect from her session - fascinating watching!

A few quotable moments:

One of the key ways we might identify our cultural trouble is by how far away we push our feeling, our sensing, and our body experience. Inviting that experience into a more central position can be scary.

There are so many places in our lives that are verbal, and rational. Here’s an opportunity to show up and invite other ways of being with ourselves and others.

What an incredible opportunity to come together and be curious about moving and listening through our bodies into this moment that we’re all on earth together.

Without needing to work at it, you will be holding space differently for you, and therefore the people you go home to, the people you work with, and the people you love. In that spaciousness, that different quality of space or place or home in yourself, and then the home and holding you can extend and offer others without working at it, just by being you: it’s in that being, that a different way of being alive together can exist. That’s where the new world is!

Watch the videos and read all about Meredith's work (including a link to a video of one of her works, Lines in the Sand: (re)making contact, a creative and cultural grappling with what it means to be at home on Aboriginal land (Festival 2018 Commonwealth Games Cultural Program)), plus all the conference info here.

Dear Reader, This month's newsletter focuses on 'the calling': how we support ourselves to listen to, focus on, and unfold the signals arising within and around us. But let’s start with a word on why this can be hard. Most of us have stayed with a familiar path at some point, even while quieter signals were suggesting another. In many ways it's deeply human. The known track feels safe, and our communities and larger systems often settle into well-worn tracks too. Sometimes those tracks...

Dear Reader, Spring is nature's own celebration of diversity, a riot of new colours, shapes and forms all emerging together, each different, each essential to the whole. And so too with our upcoming programs that we are delivering in spring and summer! This newsletter is focused on skills to support diversity because diversity lies at the heart of Process Work. It begins with the concept of Deep Democracy, the listening and valuing of all parts, knowing that different energies all have their...

Dear Reader, This month’s newsletter is inspired by poetry. The poet’stask is simple. He looks for quiet, and speaks to whathe finds there.David Whyte, Excerpt from The Poet So we invite you to become a poet for a moment. What do you hear in the quiet? In your body? In the world? In your relationships? In your dreams? What do you find there? Make a few notes. We begin by slowing down, seeking quiet so we can hear more clearly. We can consider other types of listening too – listening to tiny...
